Parent Friends Association (PFA)
Welcome to the PFA webpage
Did you know that as a parent, grandparent, guardian or carer of a child at Swalecliffe, you automatically become a member of the PFA?
What is the PFA?
The PFA is a charitable association, relying on the support of the families at Swalecliffe School, and wider donations. As a charity, our objectives are to organise activities for the children, their families and friends, and help provide facilities and equipment to support the children at school.
The PFA is led by a small group of volunteers, running the PFA alongside their own jobs and busy family lives. Current elected PFA Officers are: Lucy Harrington (Chair), Jo Beck (Vice Chair), Richard Kendall-Smith (Treasurer) and Susie Harrison (Secretary). We also have a larger Community Group that regularly volunteer their time.
How do we help the school?
Each year we discuss with the school how we can help to fund activities, events and equipment to support the children at school, which fall outside the school’s budget. Most recently we have funded the provision of games for all the children to have access to during break time.
We also make regular annual contributions towards items or events, such as providing the funding for book bags and water bottles for the new reception children, some school trips, and treats for the children throughout the year. Last year we funded the picnic for the school’s Platinum Jubilee Day, Christmas presents for KS1 children, ice lollies for every child after sports day and the Year 6 leavers received hoodies and a yearbook.
How do we raise funds?
We strive to organise events that are fun for the children and their families and friends, and that are also accessible to all, in terms of cost. This year our activities will include a Festive Fun day, Christmas shopping for all the children, clothes swap shops, discos and a summer event.
School uniform
We hold on average one second-hand school uniform sale a term, and uniform can be requested from our stock at any time. All pre-loved uniform is given on a donation basis. You are also welcome to request uniform by completing the request form via this link:
